The El Morro Spanish fortress over looks the Atlantic Ocean and is located on the island of Puerto Rico. This Caribbean island was one of the most important conquests of Spain in the 16th century and they held title to it until 1898 when the USA retained it as a territory.
This sentry box was where a soldier stood guard and was protected from the elements and enemy fire.
